It has been a little lonely around here these days, hasn’t it?! Well… here’s why:
I have been reading „The Hunger Games„, called „Die Tribute von Panem “ in german. I’ve seen several bloggers going crazy about this trilogy but never thought I would like it. I’ve cross-read it a few times at the book store and didn’t get the „I need to read it now“ vibe at all. So I put it on my christmas wishlist.
And then the Mr. got it for me as a christmas gift.
I love the box set – it’s so pretty and even the Mr. says it looks gorgeous on my book shelf. I started reading the book series 4 days ago on New Year’s. And I have finished the first two books already and am 1/4 through the third one.
So what is it about these books?
Well – they might be teenage reads. But (like Twilight and Harry Potter) they are not only for teenagers. For sure! What I like about these books is that they are also socially critical.
It is a story about the Land of Panem that’s our world in the future. There are 13 districts – the 13th had been destroyed once and to warn all the inhabitants of Panem that there should never again be war (which means they should not lean against the government / capitol) each year the HUNGER GAMES take place. 2 children of each district (12 – 18 years old) will randomly be chosen to fight in a arena until only ONE survives. It’s unfair and bloody and cruel.
I don’t want to share more about the books because I want you to read them. NOW!
What I mostly love about this book series is that there will be a movie! YES! I like when book characters come to life. It will start March 23 here in Germany. I am already stoked!
Here’s the official Trailer:
Oh my, oh my!
I am now going to continue reading book 3 in bed. These books cost a loooot of sleep. Ha 🙂
Are you infected as well?! If so, let’s talk about the books ❤
