Hello friends!
I am joining the CRAFT RELAY of my blog friend Stina and proudly present my tutorial to you:
Supplies needed:
The Make Up Bag Pattern ( download here: make up bag pattern )
Fabric for the outside
Fabric for the inside (I chose fleece)
Felt in matching colour
Scissors
Zipper
So first, print out the pattern and cut 2 pieces of the outside fabric as well as 2 pieces of the inside fabric
Now, take 1 outside-piece and an inside piece and the zipper
Then, put the outside fabric turned inside-out onto the zipper like you see in the picture below!
The inside fabric – the white fleece – needs to be put onto the zipper like this:
See?
One more picture to show you what it will look like:
Take some pins to make sure it will be fixed by the time you sew the parts together.
ew the parts together. It’s up to you if you want to use a sewing machine or sew by hand.
By the way, I used a normal stitch ![]()
You will notice that by the time you arrive at the zippers end with the pull tab, it will be complicated to sew. So just stop some cm before and pull it open.
Now, you can sew without any trouble!
This is what your piece will look like now.
Sew the other side of the bag the same way.
If you want to, you can now finish the bag or sew a pocket to the front.
It’s your decision what your pocket will look like. I decided to make it from pink felt.
Therefor I cut out a square piece of felt,
folded the edges
used pins to hold the parts down
added a pretty ribbon to the top of the pocket
and I was sewing the ribbon to the top.
Then, I sew the whole pocket to the bag
using the Zig Zag stitch.
![]()
After finishing the pocket, fold the both sides of the bag onto each other, the outisde pieces are facing each other.
Open the zipper. This is very important!!!!!!
Looks like this now.
Use pins to help holding the pieces together.
Sew around the pieces. Use your sewing machine or stitch by hand.
It will look like this now.
Cut off the overlapping pieces of fabric and
turn the bag inside-out
(that’s why you needed to leave the Zipper OPEN!!!!)
Now, your bag is done.
You can store your Make Up supplies in it or some secrets or pencils or stickers you collect ooooooor… whatever you want.
Wasn’t that a fun project?! Well, it was so much fun for me <3
Here’s another bag I made using this technique:
Happy sewing!
