Hello!
I’d love to share some facts about me today:
1. I’m born march 5th 25 years ago. My sign is pisces. I strongly believe in astrology and that some of our characteristics are influenced by the planets. For example, I always was a dreamer. When I was a child, I used to sit at a bench for hours, stare into the “nothing” and dream. I was building castles in the clouds. And I was and still am very very sensitive. I cry easily and whenever something hurts me, I suffer and suffer and suffer but never tell.
2. It’s hard for me to trust people. You know, I keep secrets to myself because I don’t want to get hurt. I’ve been hurt a lot when I was a child and teenager.
3. I always was creative. Like… always. I made handmade presents for my grandmother for ages. But she never really seemed to honour that what I’ve made was handmade and the gifts of my cousins were bought. I was putting so much creativity into her presents because I thought, she might like them… like a calendar or a painting. But she never hung them. I don’t know if she ever understood how much it was hurting me. o_O That’s why I love it so much when people tell me that things I made look cute or beautiful or both. My other grandma who died way too early was totally different. She taught me how to crochet and she knitted clothes for my dolls and stuff. She would be proud of me, I’m sure!
4. Another passion of mine is writing. It’s a great way for me to release my feelings and thoughts I kept inside. I didn’t write anything for a long time now, but I think, the reason for this is my creative explosion ^^ I just need something to release my inner thoughts, – if it’s knitting or writing. It works.
And one day, I’m sure (!) I will write a book. YAY xD
5. Most of the time, I am happy. I don’t know, why, but over the years, I’ve come to decide that life feels better when you smile. And it’s true!
6. I am a Social Worker now, but I actually wanted to be a teacher. For some reasons, my plans changed. But well,… I love my job. I work at a youth wellfare centre. I work with foster children and their foster parents as well as their “real” parents. It’s a tough job, but even though it brings tears on the one hand (when you see the way some children used to live or when you hear what kind of abuse they had to stand) but it also brings joy (seeing their foster families caring so much for these children….).
7. Even though I love my job, it’s a dream of mine to start my own business. But…. well, that’s complicated here in germany. But who knows?!
8. I love all things handmade (HA! SURPRIIIIISE!!!)
9. Oh, yeah…. I grew up near the eastsea. And now I live close to the northsea. You see…. as a piaces, I need water xD
10. My life feels good right now. I love my boyfriend and I’m 100 % sure, he does, too. I care a lot for my small family:
And of course, our cat is also part of our family.
11. I’m afraid of spiders.
12. I soooo want to visit the US one day. I will, for sure. If only to see these great great crafters I know from flickr and blogs!
13. I’m really excited for my Online Class and hope to see as many of your great talented faces there as possible <3
14. I have to admit: I deeply respect every crafting and blogging and flickr-ing lady I know! It’s so much fun to read your blog posts and see your flickr pictures and I am always very inspired by your creations. Thank you for making my life brighter every day <3
Loves,
Katja

That’s lovely of you to share personal things about yourself
We have some similarities too! I was born 25years ago, but a couple of months after you in June (Gemini).
I have a lot of initial faith in the good in people and am almost always happy and optimistic, but I get shy and cautious about trusting people with my innermost thoughts. Yet I am in training to be a clinical psych (fingers crossed June 2010 my thesis and final prac for masters will be complete!), so people trust me with their thoughts and feelings. I have always wanted to work with children and teens too.
I have been somewhat crafty my whole life, and all my grandmothers (all 3! Dad’s, Mum’s, and Mum’s biological mum) are crafty as anything. Anything I made and gave them was fortunately treasured and adored and kept, and they taught me many crafty things. I am glad that in the past few months my creative mind has had the chance to come out!
Finally, I want to visit Germany one day – hopefully in the second half of next year when uni is finally over! My partner of six years and I want to go on our long planned trip around Europe
We also want to get married once I finish uni and we can afford a house.
Amy
Hallo Katja.
Liebe Grüße an die See
Katja, you are an inspiration. Everything you make is lovely and magic. You are such a pleasure to know and I can’t wait to take your class and learn from you. I love “knowing” people from blogs beyond their craftiness and talents. It makes me love them even more. =)
Happy day to you, dear!!! xo
I enjoyed learning new things about you! You are one of my favorite bloggers! I look forward to reading your blog everyday. You are very inspiring and so sweet! And I hope to someday to visit Germany!
well you are adorable and i like when people give facts and are honest:)
